Dear Parents

You have already received a letter from the Parents’ Association thanking everyone involved in the Summer Fair. I would like to add my thanks for all the support, even to those who soaked me! I was most impressed by all the arena events from the children, which added to the excellent atmosphere on the day.

Our sports days for juniors have been rearranged as follows:

Year 3 and Year 4 Friday 8th July 1pm

Year 5 and Year 6 Monday 11th July 1pm

We have done our best to avoid clashing with rehearsals, trips and secondary school visits, and hope that these dates are convenient for you.

Following consultation with staff, we will not be mixing classes this year. Therefore I am pleased to inform you of your child’s teacher next year. However, I must stress that there is a concern that parents may begin having conversations with their child’s new teacher, when the teacher is still fully involved with their current class. We are also concerned that the pupils themselves might begin losing interest in their current teacher. Many schools do not announce classes until late in the term, or even the final week, for this very reason. We will monitor the situation this year to guide us in when we announce classes next year.

May I remind everyone that the entire premises of the school is a no smoking area, including the field and playgrounds. This was agreed in 2003, and we have noted a number of parents smoking whilst waiting for their children, or when attending events such as the summer fair. We will ensure that this is communicated more widely before events.
